Netflix’s official twitter page, NX, has announced that the streaming service is co-producing a new Ghost in the Shell anime! It’s title is Ghost in the Shell: SAC_2045, though it won’t be premiering until 2020. They even released a new teaser visual for the anime:
In its tweet, NX further teased the anime with the quote, “desire to explore the true meaning of human consciousness intensifies”.
Appleseed’s Shinji Aramaki and Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex’s Kenji Kamiyama will be directing the new anime, according to the tweet. Netflix also confirmed that this new anime is a series, so it won’t be in a film format. It will also be a 3DCG anime, with Production I.G and Sola Digital Arts co-producing the animation. They also said that it will be an original anime series, and also describe it as a “next generation anime film”.
So far, they haven’t revealed much information about this new anime yet. From the looks of things, we might wait a bit further for more announcements, so stay tuned.
