When Masashi Kishimoto’s Naruto manga ended, it sparked a ton of spin-offs. These include Boruto of course. And now, one of those spin-offs, a novel titled Naruto Shinden, is getting the TV anime treatment! The novel has three different stories, each one focusing on either Naruto, Shikamaru, and Sasuke as parents.
Weekly Shounen Jump issue 6-7 announced the TV anime adaptation, though they did not specify wheter if it’s a part of the Boruto: Naruto Next Generations TV anime or not. It will begin its run on Sunday, February 10, 2019. Coincidentally, Boruto also airs every Sunday, though it still isn’t clear whether they will air the adaptations as a separate anime or as part of Boruto. Previously, when the adapted Takashi Yano’s Itachi Shinden novel, it was part of the Naruto Shippuden TV anime.
The source novel has three parts, the first one being Mirei Miyamoto’s Naruto Shinden. Meanwhile, Jun Esaka wrote Sasuke Shinden and Takashi Yano wrote Shikamaru Shinden. Of course, mangaka Masashi Kishimoto himself illustrated the novel.
