It’s a new year, and looking back at 2018, it certainly gave us a ton of great anime. However, among these anime, many didn’t get as much love as they should have. We take a look at five of the anime we think are great, but didn’t make enough waves, or are overshadowed by the other releases for the season.

Radiant

A great story with great fights fit for a shounen anime, Radiant is pretty fun to watch. Unfortunately, not a lot of people are talking about it as much as we thought.

Seven Senses of the Re’Union

The anime is sort of like a combination of Sword Art Online and AnoHana. It has a lot of great drama and plot lines, and very interesting characters. Unfortunately, it didn’t really break out of that shell and never really took off as much as the other titles from the Summer 2018 season. Then again, it’s easy to get overshadowed by a lot of great titles from that season, as it included Grand Blue, Asobi Asobase, High Score Girl, Cells At Work, Hanebado, Chio’s School Road, and Dropkick on my Devil.

Run with the Wind

Great animation, great characters, and great story. And hey, the critics even love it and say it’s one of the best anime of Fall 2018. Unfortunately, it ain’t resonating as much with fans.

Dragon Pilot: Hisone and Maso-tan

This laid-back military anime from BONES and Netflix is certainly very unique, and we feel it’s the most underrated anime of the year for 2018. It follows JSF pilots flying dragons, and it certainly has its fair share of unique and wacky characters. All in all, it had a compelling story, which unfortunately got ignored by a lot of fans.

Kokkoku

An anime about a family trapped in a world where time stood still while battling a cult that’s after their powers. It had plenty of great scenes, lots of drama, and again, not much love from fans.

So, what anime from last year do you guys think is underrated?
