Yuki Suetsugu’s Chihayafuru manga is now in its final arc, and will be ending very soon. Of course, this has made a lot of fans very sad undeed. However, in her twitter page, Yuki Suetsugu herself announced via twitter that it’s very likely that the manga won’t be ending until October. This means we have a few more months of getting the hit shoujo manga.
October is when the third season will premiere, so it may just be the mangaka holding out because of the excitement for the new anime. The series was supposed to premiere in April, but they postponed it to October, which means it’s a delay of at least six months.
The anime’s staff did not mention the reason for the delay, but they did promise to continue to work hard to make a “superior work”. It was supposed to run starting next month and be two cours (two seasons, or around 24 episodes) long.
Morio Asaka will be returning to direct the series, with Madhouse animating the project. Much of the cast will also be returning to reprise their roles:
- Asami Seto as Chihaya Ayase
- Mamoru Miyano as Taichi Mashima
- Yoshimasa Hosoya as Arata Wataya
Expect the staff to reveal more details about this upcoming third season in the days to come. As for the manga’s ending, well, I think Yuki Suetsugu likes keeping us on edge on how it will go.
