The classic supernatural anime, Humanoid Monster Bem, is currently celebrating its 50th anniversary. And to celebrate this golden achievement, the anime will be getting a more modern twist with a new TV anime! Its title is BEM, and they have launched a new official website, and also revealed a brand new PV:
They also revealed a brand new visual featuring the franchise’s three main characters. Katsuyuki Konishi will voice Bem, M.A.O will voice Bela, and Kensho Ono will play Belo.
The original classic anime aired from 1968-1969. It had 26 episodes and followed three ugly youkai named Bem, Bela, and Belo. They protect humans from evil youkai, but both sides shun them. They hope to one day become humans themselves.
Yoshinori Odaka is directing the series over at LandQ Studios, while Pokemon XY’s Atsuhiro Tomioka is writing the scripts. Masakazu Sunagawa is adapting Range Murata’s original character designs for this new series. Previously, it had a 26-episode remake in 2006, as well as a live-action TV series in 2011. The live-action adaptation also continued with a live-action movie in 2012.
