Level 5’s Ni no Kuni game is getting an anime movie adaptation! And now, Warner Bros. Japan has started streaming a teaser video, as well as highlights of the movie’s press conference.
The video reveals that the movie will debut in Japan this summer 2019. It also revealed that Death Note star, Kento Yamazaki, will be voicing the anime’s protagonist, Yuu. It also revealed the character designs for the film’s three leads, including Yuu, his best friend, Haru, and his childhood friend, Kotona.
The movie itself will have an original story that will follow the three friends as they travel between the real world and an alternate world known as Ni No Kuni. According to the announcement, when the life of the Kotona of both worlds is put in danger, they must make the “ultimate choice”.
Yoshiyuki Momose, who worked on the game, will return to direct the movie, with the legendary Joe Hisaishi composing the music. Pokemon’s studio, OLM, will be providing the animation, while Level 5 CEO, Akihiro Hino is overseeing the movie and the scripts personally. They will reveal more details about the anime during the AnimeJapan 2019 event in March.
