It looks like Sunrise is dead serious on going after bootleggers. And from the looks of things, they’re not just going after fake GunPla, but also fake Love Live! merchandise as well.  Recently, Numazu City police, who are from the Love Live! Sunshine!! holyland itself, arrested two shop managers. Allegedly, they have some involvement with another shop selling fake merchandise in Akihabara.

According to police, they offered hoodies bearing the AQOURS logo, which infringe on the copyrights owned by Sunrise. Both suspects are from Kogashi, Saitama, with one being 55 years old, and the other age 46. The police alsoseized seven allegedly fake merchandise when they arrested the two men. They’re currently investigating how they’re producing these fake items.

As for Sunrise, they commented on the incident. They said it was “regrettable” that these two men have deviated from normal fan activities.

Sunrise, which is part of the Bandai Namco group, is the same studio which produces all the Gundam anime. They’re also part of the effort which goes after fake Gundam plastic models as well. The company has increased efforts in going after these fake manufacturers, even shutting down two notorious companies.
