Spring is in the air! And as the current crop of Winter 2019 anime are about to end their runs, we take a look at the ones replacing them. Specifically, we’re looking at new anime series which never had any anime adaptation, be it TV, OVA, or film before. These titles are completely new, and we’re very much excited to watch them. And that being said, we’re gonna go ahead and say that we are not gonna include returning anime with new seasons like One Punch Man, remakes like Fruits Basket, or spin-offs/crossovers like Isekai Quartet. We’re gonna have a separate list for them! And with that being said, here are our picks for new anime for Spring 2019:

Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba

It’s by ufotable, so expect great animation quality.

synopsis:

Since ancient times, rumors have abounded of man-eating demons lurking in the woods. Because of this, the local townsfolk never venture outside at night. Legend has it that a demon slayer also roams the night, hunting down these bloodthirsty demons. For young Tanjirou, these rumors will soon to become his harsh reality…

Ever since the death of his father, Tanjirou has taken it upon himself to support his family. Although their lives may be hardened by tragedy, they’ve found happiness. But that ephemeral warmth is shattered one day when Tanjirou finds his family slaughtered and the lone survivor, his sister Nezuko, turned into a demon. To his surprise, however, Nezuko still shows signs of human emotion and thought…

Thus begins Tanjirou’s quest to fight demons and turn his sister human again.

Ultraman

Netflix is at it again, and this time, they’re giving Ultraman his own anime! And with the recent success of SSS.Gridman, it seems that Tsuburaya’s tokusatsu works are getting more and more anime counterparts!

Synopsis:

Shinjiro Hayata, son of Shin Hayata, who was the first Ultraman, has a natural special power. One day, Shinjiro was attacked by unknown enemies. Ultraman saved the day, and unmasked himself to show Shinjiro that he was his father. Wearing an Ultraman suit provided by Mr. Ide, formerly a member of the SSSP (Science Special Search Party), Shinjiro throws down the gauntlet and helps his father. Then the real battle commences.

Sarazanmai

It’s an adventure filled with those legendary Japanese mythical creatures known as Kappa. It looks like a fun watch, so we’re looking forward to it.

Synopsis:

Kazuki Yasaka, an 8th grader living in Asakusa, is turned into a Kappa along with his classmates Toi and Enta by a mysterious creature named Keppi, after they break inadvertently a statue of a Kappa, the guardian god of the city.

They are then ordered by Keppi, who claims to be the first heir to the throne of Kappa Kingdom, to fight against the Kapa-zombies, bioarms created by his enemies, if they want to return to their human form. In order to kill them, they have to make a specific sound called “Sarazanmai” which is produced only when the three of them are united, but the three boys cannot connect at first.

In addition, one of their secrets is revealed to each other every time they emit the sound!

They finally accept to take risks to collect the “Plates of Hope”, given by Keppi when they defeat the Kapa-zombies, and which can make their wishes come true. However, some trouble occurs over the plates…! Along the course of the fights against the Kapa-zombies, their fierce past and inner conflicts keep getting revealed. This is the sarcastic fantasy of three boys who don’t feel connected to their important ones, getting to realize the real meaning of bonds.

Magmel of the Sea Blue

This anime is a co-production between Japan and China, and adapts a Chinese work.

Summary:

One day in the middle of the pacific ocean a miracle occurred, a new continent appeared out of nowhere! The new continent was the home for new and mysterious plants, creatures and minerals!

Humanity is excited as the age of exploration has returned.

Senryuu Shoujo

We love romantic comedies, and we think this one might stand out next season.

Summary:

Yukishiro Nanako is a cute, cheerful high school girl with one peculiar trait—instead of verbal communication, she writes senryuu (a type of haiku) poems to relay her thoughts. Together with ex-delinquent Busujima Eiji, they are budding freshmen of the school’s Literature Club. Even though Nanako doesn’t talk, with the power of senryuu, the adorable pair has no problem enjoying their fun school-life through the tune of 5-7-5 syllables.

Now there you have it, five anime we’re excited to watch next season. Tune in again tomorrow as we take a look at the returning anime with new seasons, spin-offs, and remakes.
