After months of teasing and making the game mysterious, the PlayStation channel finally dropped a new trailer for Hideo Kojima’s debut game as an independent game producer, Death Stranding. The trailer is almost nine minutes long, and it announces that the game will be released on November 8, 2019 exclusively for the PlayStation 4.
Well, at least that shed some light on the mysterious game, right? Here’s how Kojima Productions describes the game’s story:
Besieged by death’s tide at every turn, Sam Bridges must brave a world utterly transformed by the Death Stranding. Carrying the stranded remnants of the future in his hands, Sam embarks on a journey to reunite the shattered world one step at a time. What is the mystery of the Death Stranding? What will Sam discover on the road ahead? A genre defining gameplay experience holds these answers and more.
The game will also feature renowned Pacific Rim director, Guillermo del Toro, The Walking Dead actor Norman Reedus, and Hannibal’s Mads Mikkelsen. Kojima Productions and Sony will release the game as an exclusive for the PlayStation 4.
In an interview, Kojima revealed that they are using Guerrilla Games’ new Decima Engine for the game, with Kojima saying that he and his team looked everywhere to find the “perfect tools” to create Death Stranding. He said “It has to be technology and people, they cannot be separate. From the first moment I met Guerrilla I had a good feeling about this.”
