After images of how Sonic would look in the live-action Sonic the Hedgehog movie leaked online, fans weren’t too happy in the design. Even so, Paramount is moving forward with that controversial design. And now, they have released a new trailer, and it’s making people online groan:
Majority of the criticism to Sonic’s design was the fur, which doesn’t look like it would be found in real hedgehogs. Executive Producer Tim Miller then commented on this:
“It would be weird and it would feel like he was running around nude if he was some sort of otter-like thing. It was always, for us, fur, and we never considered anything different. It’s part of what integrates him into the real world and makes him a real creature.”
However, when the new trailer surfaced, fans were a bit more fixated at how Sonic looked creepy… especially his teeth.
As for Jim Carey as Robotnik/Eggman, people are a bit divided. Many liked the design, but many others wanted to see him bald and well… shaped like an egg.
Paramount previously announced Sonic the Hedgehog will premiere from November 15, 2019 to November 8, 2019 in the United States. They will also announced that they will reveal its Japanese premiere date “soon”.
