Toei recently held their “Usagi Special Birthday Party 2019” event last weekend. And there, the announced more details on the upcoming Sailor Moon 2-part anime movie project. First, the revealed that both films will premiere in Japan in 2020. They then revealed its official title, which is Pretty Guardians Sailor Moon Eternal The MOVIE. They also revealed a teaser video as well:

Chiaki Kon is returning from the anime’s third season to direct the two films over at Toei, with the original 90’s anime’s character designer, Kazuko Tadano, returning to design the characters. Meanwhile, Jojo’s Bizarre Adventure writer, Kazayuki Fudeyasu is writing the scripts for both films. Aside from the release window, official title, and staff, the event also revealed a new key visual featuring Usagi and Chibi Usa:

The cast from Sailor Moon Crystal will be reprising their roles for the anime, and they will include:

  • Kotono Mitsuishi as Usagi Tsukino/Sailor Moon
  • Hisako Kanemoto as Ami Mizuno/Sailor Mercury
  • Rina Satou as Rei Hino/Sailor Mars
  • Ami Koshimizu as Makoto Kino/Sailor Jupiter
  • Shizuka Itou as Minako Aino/Sailor Venus
  • Misato Fukuen as Chibi-Usa/Sailor Chibi Moon

Announced back in 2017, the two films will be acting as the “Fourth season” of Sailor Moon Crystal. It will adapt the Dead Moon arc from Naoko Takeuchi’s original 90’s magical girl manga.
