Welsh Corgis are one of the most popular breeds of dog for anime fans, mostly because of a certain Corgi from Cowboy Bebop. Of course, that dog is Ein, one of the most iconic dogs in anime. And with the new live-action Netflix series coming up, many are wondering what dog will play Ein, or if he will even appear in the series. Don’t worry folks, because Executive producer and writer Christopher Yost has confirmed on Twitter that Ein will in fact be a Welsh Corgi!
A few months ago, there was a rumour that Netflix was planning to use a Siberian Husky for Ein. Well, since this is the writer and executive producer for the show saying that they’ll be using a Corgi, then that husky rumor is… well… a rumor.
According to Variety, the live-action series will have 10 episodes. And for those worrying that Netflix will screw this up, Cowboy Bebop’s own creator and anime director, Shinichiro Watanabe, will be serving as creative consultant. Also, the guy who wrote the scripts for Thor: The Dark World and Thor: Ragnarok, Chris Yost, is writing the first episode’s script. It was also reported that Alex Garcia Lopez is directing the first two episodes. The streaming service has gotten plenty of influence in the Japanese animation industry already. These include live-action projects such as adapting Sword Art Online into live-action and anime projects such as the new Ultraman anime, Kakegurui, Fate/Apocrypha, Baki, and many more.
