The arson fire in Kyoto Animation’s Studio 1 Building has now claimed 35 lives. And after DNA testing and investigations, the police have now identified all of the individuals who passed away in that fire. And now, they have revealed the names of 10 of those victims, and it includes some pretty big names in the anime industry, as well as some promising young talent who were sadly lost in a madman’s fiery rampage.

Here the the 10 individuals who were named by  the Kyoto Police of having passed away (in Japanese alphabetical order):

  • Jun’ichi Uda – in-between animator for K-On!, A Silent Voice, Liz and the Blue Bird, Hyouka, and many more
  • Yuuki Oomura – a rookie animator
  • Yuka Kasama – also a rookie animator
  • Yoshiji Kigami – director for Munto, Munto 2: Beyond the Walls of Time, Shin Dosei Jidai: Hawaiian Breeze, Last War of Heavenloids and Akutoloids, Sora o Miageru Shoujo no Hitomi ni Utsuru Sekai, and Baja no Studio, episode director for Violet Evergarden, Tamako Market, Sound! Euphonium, K-ON!! second season, Miss Kobayashi’s Dragon Maid, Myriad Colors Phantom World, Nichijou – My Ordinary Life, Beyond the Boundary, Clannad, Clannad After Story, Lucky Star, Love, Chunibyo & Other Delusions!, and Free! – Iwatobi Swim Club, Key Animator for Doraemon, Crayon Shin-chan, Akira, and Grave of the Fireflies
