Next year is the Tokyo 2020 OPlympics, and it will feature a lot of programs in Japan, and they’re not all related to sports. And one of those official programs is hosted by the International Otaku Expo Association (IOEA), and it’s happening in Ikebukuro. It’s called the “Otaku Summit 2020”, and yes, it’s an official Tokyo 2020 Programme event in association with the Tokyo Olympics.
They released an official statement in English, and it says:
The IOEA is proud to announce that we will be holding OTAKU SUMMIT 2020 June 27 and 28, 2020, in Toshima City, Tokyo as a joint project with Toshima City. This event is a place for international exchange through the Otaku culture, where people from around the world who love otaku culture and world event organizations can gather.
They will be hosting events about the otaku subculture, and it includes exhibitions, seminars, and even academic conferences. Sunshine City and the Toshima Residents Center will be the venues for these various events. Expect more details to be announced in the days to come.
