One Piece has been running for over 20 years now, and it doesn’t look like it will be ending any time soon. Now, its mangaka, Eiichiro Oda, recently appeared in a video for the popular YouTuber group, Fischer’s. There, he promoted the new One Piece Stampede movie, and revealed some details on when One Piece might be ending.
Fischer’s member Ndaho asked Oda on how long he plans to keep One Piece going. To this, the shounen mangaka says that he would like to end it in five years. Of course, this admission got people talking.
Back in January, Oda proclaimed in an interview that One Piece’s ending is “near”. But him saying that he wants to end it in five years isn’t really what many people could call “near” if we’re talking about time. But if we’re gonna take a look at how long the manga has run, 5 years seems a bit short, right?
Oda also said in 2016 that the manga is about 65% done. He also previously said that the manga will have just over 100 volumes. As for One Piece Stampede, the anime movie premieres on August 9, 2019.
