Kyoto Animation has been in a ton of momentum as they try to recover from last July’s horrific arson fire. They have received billions of yen worth of donations, they have restarted operations, and have now released the Violet Evergarden: Eternity and the Auto Memories Doll side story movie. But now, it seems that they have a bit of a slow down from that momentum, as the official Violet Evergarden website has announced that the upcoming Violet Evergarden the Movie will be delayed.
The anime movie was supposed to premiere on January 10, 2020. Its official website stated “various reasons” for the delay, though promised that they will announce a new release date soon. They also stated that work on the movie is still ongoing.
But while Violet Evergarden the movie has been delayed, Violet Evergarden: Eternity and the Auto Memories Doll is now showing in selected theatres around Japan. The delay also did not upset many fans, as many are just happy that KyoAni is operating again. The loss of 35 lives in that arson fire was a huge blow, and many fans wished that they don’t rush the release of many of their works right after the tragedy.
