Ahhh, the Ahegao hoodie, it has become quite a fixture in many anime events and conventions already. While many find these hoodies quite novel, some are actually finding themselves annoyed by them already. And now, one anime convention in the United Kingdom is putting its foot down by outright banning these shirts.
⚠️Currently updating our cosplay etiquette rules for 2020 and we’re not allowing ahegao clothing at our future events because we are an all-age convention. Rules will be uploaded this week as we update our site but we thought we’d get this one out there so you have been informed!

The convention says that they will be updating their cosplay etiquette rules just because of this type of clothing, which features various female characters from adult manga. The reason being that the convention is an all-ages event, and they most certainly don’t want kids seeing the shirts.
Of course, the decision has garnered some mixed reactions from a lot of people. A lot of people were saddened they won’t get to wear this kind of apparel in events anymore, but there were also a lot of people who happily supported the convention staff’s decision to ban them.
The next SunnyCon Anime Expo event will happen from June 26-28, 2020 at St James Park, United Kingdom.
