Kono Light Novel ga Sugoi! is a guide magazine that ranks the best light novels of the year. And in addition to this year’s best light novels, the magazine also ranked the best light novels of the decade, as 2019 is also the final year of the 2010’s. They decided on the Light Novel Of The Decade winner on the most cumulative votes across the entire 2010’s. Here are the results:

  1. Sword Art Online by Reki Kawahara
  2. A Certain Magical Index by Kazuma Kamach
  3. The Ryuo’s Work is Never Done! by Shiratori Shirow
  4. Is It Wrong to Try to Pick Up Girls in a Dungeon? by Fujino Oomori
  5. Alderamin on the Sky by Bokuto Uno
  6. No Game No Life by Yuu Kamiya
  7. Ascendance of a Bookworm by Miya Kazuki
  8. The Irregular at Magic High School by Tsutomu Satou
  9. Bottom-tier Character Tomozaki by Yuuki Yaku
  10. Monogatari series by NisiOisin

There you have it folks, Kono Light Novel Ga Sugoi! has named Sword Art Online as light novel of the decade. However, there’s one critically-acclaimed series that seems to be missing… My Teen Romantic Comedy SNAFU. The reason for Wataru Watari’s groundbreaking series not making it to the Top 10 is that the magazine inducted it to their Hall of Fame in 2015, and they cannot count its votes anymore.
