Is Gintama trolling us again? Twitter Account teases new announcements for 3rd anime movie during Jump Festa
Unlike most anime, “official announcements” from the staff of Gintama aren’t exactly… trustworthy. The franchise and its mangaka have been known to troll the fans with fake announcements and titles from time to time. And now, with Jump Festa fast approaching, the anime’s Twitter Page have revealed that they will announce more details on the third anime movie during the event. Tomokazu Sugita (Gintoki), Daisuke Sakaguchi (Shinpachi), and Rie Kugimiya (Kagura) will also be there to make the announcement, and it will all happen on the event’s very first day, on December 21, 2019.
But will their announcement be reliable? The anime has trolled fans for years that when they announced that Gintama will be having a third movie last August, many just rolled their eyes. However, it seems that the third movie really is coming, and they are really announcing a lot of new information during the event.
Gintama anime movies have been known for announcing false information to fans as well. For years, the Gintama TV anime ran a gag announcing that the Benizakura arc is getting an anime film adaptation. However, they did not follow through until years later. As for Be Forever Yorozuya, they announced that it will be the last Gintama anime… and then they released a brand new season of the TV anime and also announced this third movie. Talk about unreliable information!
But in all seriousness, we better expect Gintama to announce some stuff about the new movie during Jump Festa… mainly because the event’s staff itself have booked an actual stage event for Gintama on that day.
