PlayStation Awards 2019 winners are announced, PlayStation also wins world record for highest selling console brand
During an awarding ceremony in Japan, which they also live-streamed online, Sony Interactive Entertainment (SIE) has now announced the winners of the PlayStation Awards 2019 Winners. This is a special year, as this also marks the 25th anniversary of these awards, as well as the debut of the original PlayStation console itself.
The winners for these year’s awards are:
PlayStation 25th Anniversary User’s Choice Award (Voted on by PlayStation users from all regions, based on winners from the previous 24 PlayStation Awards ceremonies.)

Platinum Prize (Shipped more than 1 million units in Asia from October 1, 2018 and September 30, 2019.)

Gold Prize (Shipped more than 500,000 units in Asia from October 1, 2018 and September 30, 2019.)

Indie Games & Game Developers Award (Given to the Top three games which contributed the most from Indie Developers)

Aside from the winners, the PlayStation brand also received a Guiness World Record! The consoles, from PS1-4 have sold an estimated 450.19 million units as of November 7, 2019. This is based on VGChartz figures. And because of this, the PlayStation brand now holds the “best-selling videogame home console brand ever” world record from Guinness. They received the award on the live-stream award ceremony as well.
