The Stand By Me Doraemon 3DCG movie is one of the most beautifully-made anime movies out there. And now, Toho has announced that the movie is getting a sequel titled Stand By Me Doraemon 2! The movie will premiere on August 7, 2019, and they even released a trailer for the movie:

Ryūichi Yagi and Takashi Yamazaki are both rteturning as co-directors for the movie. Meanwhile, Yamazaki won’t just be directing, but he’s also writing the movie’s script. Here is the movie’s key visual:

The movie will be a remade of the 2000 Doraemon movie, Doraemon: Obaachan no Omoide, though it will be adding some original elements. It mainly focused on Shizuka and Nobita’s love story, which they also touched on in the first Stand By Me Doraemon movie.

And as it seems, there will be two Doraemon movies nest year. The other one being Doraemon the Movie: Nobita’s New Dinosaur, which premieres in Japan on March 6, 2019.
