This year, Tokyo won’t just be hosting the 2020 Summer Olympics, but also the 2020 Summer Paralympics. And now, the Tokyo 2020 Olympics and Paralympics organizers have revealed a new poster for the Paralympics. And right away, from the art style alone, manga fans could recognize that it kinda looks familiar. Yes folks, Jojo’s Bizarre Adventure mangaka Hirohiko Araki himself, drew that! And yes, there are a few Jojo references in the illustration! Can you spot them?

The blonde runner resembles Dio, and his prosthetics kinda feature Dio’s stand, The World. Meanwhile, the green-haired jumper seems to be a reference for two stands. One on the hair seems to be a reference to Giorno Giovanna’s Stand Gold Experience. Meanwhile, the one on her prosthetics seems to be Killer Queen. Finally, the biplane seems to be a reference to Narancia’s Aerosmith Stand.

The artwork’s title is “The Sky Above the Great Wave off the Coast of Kanagawa”. It is also a reference to Hokusai’s masterpiece woodblock print Under the Wave off Kanagawa. The mangaka himself also commented on the artwork:

I imagined the gods of sports descending on Japan from a sky filled with clouds resembling turbulent waves. The compositional motif was taken from Katsushika Hokusai’s print, The Great Wave off the Coast of Kanagawa. Deciding on the color of Mt. Fuji was difficult, but I finally settled on a honey color.

The Paralympics will happen after the Summer Olympics wraps up. It will rin in Japan from August 25 until September 6, 2020.
