With the outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic in Japan, the government has announced a state of emergency. And with that, many anime, films, and TV shows have postponed episodes. And with that, KonoSuba author Natsume Akatsuki guaranteed people that despite the country’s state of emergency, the light novels’ final volume will still move forward as planned. They will still release it on May 1, 2020.
Akatsuki launched the light novel series back in 2013, and it certainly became a smash hit. The series inspired two TV anime seasons, as well as an anime film. It also has several video games and manga adaptations, and even a tabletop RPG.
Here’s how Crunchyroll describes the anime’s story:
After a traffic accident, Kazuma Sato’s disappointingly brief life was supposed to be over, but he wakes up to see a beautiful girl before him. She claims to be a goddess, Aqua, and asks if he would like to go to another world and bring only one thing with him. Kazuma decides to bring the goddess herself, and they are transported to a fantasy world filled with adventure, ruled by a demon king. Now Kazuma only wants to live in peace, but Aqua wants to solve many of this world’s problems, and the demon king will only turn a blind eye for so long…
