The live-action Rurouni Kenshin films are back with two new films as part of its “Final Chapter”. Takeru Sato is reprising his role as Kenshin “Battousai” Himura for these latest films, and so will many of the cast. And now, the staff have finally released several new still images for the first film, Rurouni Kenshin: The Final.

Other cast members include Emi Takei as Kaoru Kamiya, Munetaka Aoki as Sanosuke Sagara, and Yuu Aoi as Megumi Takani. Riku Oonishi is also joining the cast, replacing Kaito Ooyagi as Yahiko Myojin. And finally, Takeru Satoh is reprising his role as Kenshin Himura for the films.

Director Keishi Ootomo will be returning from the original trilogy to direct the two films. Warner Bros. has confirmed that these will be the final films for the franchise, and it will be covering the final arc from Watsuki’s beloved manga., which is the Jinchuu arc. “The Final” will follow Kenshin’s conflict with the mysterious arms dealer, Enishi. Meanwhile, The Beginning will be a prequel of sorts, and will tell the story of how Kenshin got his iconic scar.

Principal photography for the films have ended already, and they shot several scenes all over Japan. Rurouni Kenshin Saishuushou The Final will open first, on July 3, 2020. The second “final” film, Rurouni Kenshin Saishuushou The Beginning, will then open in August 7, 2020.
