The COVID-19 pandemic has delayed and cancelled much throughout this crisis, and that also includes live-action stage play adaptations. Among them is the live-action stage adaptation of Aneko Yusagi’s The Rising of the Shield Hero  light novel series. However, the cast have filmed their own performance last March 27 with no crowd for social distancing. They will then release that performance for both Blu-ray and DVD on September 2020. They even released a teaser for the performance:

The play was originally scheduled to run at the Cool Japan Park Osaka TT Hall in Osaka from March 27 to 29, and then to Tokyo’s Theater Sun-mall from April 2-12, 2020. However, COVID-19 has certainly put a damper on things, postponing the play indefinitely. Unfortunately, they haven’t revealed a new schedule for the play yet. The play stars:

Yuuya Uno as Naofumi Iwatani

Yuuna Sekine as Filo

Carin Isobe as Raphtalia

Ikkei Yamamoto as Motoyasu Kitamura

Yuuho Matsui (Gekidan Patch) as Ren Amaki

Taiga Fukazawa as Itsuki Kawasumi

Ryuuya Ishigami as Ake

Kojima as Slave Trader

Erena Kamata as Raphtalia (young)

Sarah Emi Bridcutt as Myne

Atsushi Maruyama as Elhart

Isamu Ishizaka as Aultcray

Kenta Nishi as Knight Commander Nops

Kiyoshi Ōno as Vice Knight Commander Sable

Sarah Emi Bridcutt, who is playing Myne in the anime, is also playing her in the stage play as well, so expect fans to really put in the hate.
