The Toei Kyoto Studio Park will have a very special treat for all you Evangelion fans out there. This is because on October 3, 2020, the Evangelion Kyoto Base will open in the theme park, and it will feature a special ride featuring the Evangelion Unit 01 or Eva-01.
The statue itself will feature a 15 metre bust of the Eva Unit-01. Of course, visitors can take their photos with the 1:1 scale attraction, and they can even get on its hand to take those photos.
NERV’s New Kyoto-3 branch has also put up a call for new Eva pilots. Those who want to be an Eva pilot will have to take a series of aptitude tests, Those who pass these tests can now also ride the Eva-01’s plug suit. And yes, there will be photo opportunities as well!
Much like the life-size Unicorn Gundam over at Odaiba, the life-size Eva bust will also feature light shows. These shows will simulate Angel Battles featuring the series’ various Eva units. And of course, there will be a merchandise stall near the attraction as well. It will sell button pins, as well as acrylic stands featuring various Evangelion characters.
The attraction will open on October 3, 2020. However, they will release “Premium Trial” tickets that will grant early access for fans as early as August 1st. This is all to celebrate the upcoming Evangelion: 3.0+1.0, which unfortunately has been delayed again. But this time, the delay wasn’t because of Hideaki Anno’s depression, but Coronavirus concerns.
