Wataru Watanabe’s Yowamushi Pedal manga is getting a live-action movie adaptation. And now, Shochiku’s official YouTube channel has now released a new trailer for the upcoming movie. It features protagonist Sakamichi Onoda, played by King & Prince idol Ren Nagase, singing “Koi no Hime-Hime Pettanko”, the theme song from Onoda’s favourite anime, Love Hime. Yeah, better be prepared for a lot of Onoda singing “Hime” for this movie…
Kouichirou Miki both directed and wrote the screenplay for the movie, which is now showing in Japan. It premiered on August 14, 2020. Here’s the movie’s key visual, featuring the members of the Sohoku High School cycling team:
The manga received several successful TV anime adaptations, anime movies, and even an OVA. It also received several live-action stage adaptations, as well as its own live-action TV series. It follows an otaku named Sakamichi Onoda, who has a natural talent for cycling. While failing to create an anime club at his school, he finds himself joining their bicycle racing club instead.
