One Piece mangaka Eiichiro Oda recently sat down for an interview in an episode of the Arashi band’s a la tubo variety program. There, Arashi member Masaki Aiba asked the veteran mangaka if he has decided how many more years are left in the plot. To this, Oda answered that he plans to end One Piece in around four to five years.
Arashi member Satoshi Ohno also asked him if he has already decided on the ending. To this, he says that every time he changes editors, he has to brief them about everything, including the ending. His editor also came with Oda for the interview, and he also confirmed that he also knows the ending already.
Last year, Oda also stated that he wants the manga to end in five years in another interview. And back in January of last year. Oda proclaimed in an interview that One Piece’s ending is “near” as well. But him saying that he wants to end it in five years isn’t really what many people could call “near” if we’re talking about time. But if we’re gonna take a look at how long the manga has run, 5 years seems a bit short, right?
Oda also said in 2016 that the manga is about 65% done. He also previously said that the manga will have just over 100 volumes.
