Are you ready for more Shamiko?! This is because TBS Animation has announced that the TV anime adaptation of Izumo Ito’s The Demon Girl Next Door (Machikado Mazoku) is getting a second season! They even released a brand new video announcing this new season:
Manga Time Kirara Carat magazine’s October 2020 issue also announced the second season as it was released. Here is the new key visual:
The manga received its first anime season in September 2019. It follows a demon girl, who is really weak, being forced to defeat a really strong magical girl. J.C. Staff previously animated the first season, with Hiroaki Sakurai at the helm of this project. Expect the staff to announce more details about the second season, such as cast, staff, studio, and release date, in the days to come.
Here’s how Sentai Filmworks describes its story:
Yuko Yoshida is just an ordinary schoolgirl — until one day her dormant, devilish powers are unleashed by the demon Lilith! Yuko transforms into Shadow Mistress Yuko, a supernatural powerhouse with horns and a devil tail. Now she must defeat another mystical being named Momo Chiyoda, the shrine maiden of the Light Clan… who just so happens to go to Yuko’s school! But being a demonic magical girl isn’t as easy as it looks, and Yuko has a whole lot to learn before she’s ready to fulfill her destiny and take on the Clan of Light.
