The second season of the remake anime for Natsuki Takaya’s Fruits Basket manga has now aired its 25th and final episode. There, they revealed that a new season will be coming for the series, and it will premiere in 2021. They also announced that it will begin airing in 2021 via TV Tokyo, TV Aichi, and TV Osaka.
So far though, they did not reveal any further details about this final season yet. But the first season did airing in April 2019 and had 25 episodes, while the second season started its run in April 2020, and also had 25 episodes. Expect the staff to reveal more details about this second season in the days to come.
Here’s how Funimation describes the anime’s story:
Tohru Honda thought her life was headed for misfortune when a family tragedy left her living in a tent. When her small home is discovered by the mysterious Soma clan, she suddenly finds herself living with Yuki, Kyo, and Shigure Soma. But she quickly learns their family has a bizarre secret of their own: when hugged by the opposite sex, they turn into the animals of the Zodiac!
The remake is an entirely new adaptation of Takeya’s Fruits Basket manga. It features an entirely new cast of characters different from the first anime. It will adapt the entirety of the manga as well.
