Your Lie in April mangaka Naoshi Arakawa is getting a new anime for one of his other works. This time, they’re adapting his soccer manga, Farewell, My Dear Cramer, into a TV anime. It’s also getting an anime movie titled Farewell, My Dear Cramer First Touch as well. They also released a new PV for this new anime:
Farewell, My Dear Cramer follows Nozomi Onda, who aims to be a top women’s soccer star. Meanwhile, the anime movie, Farewell, My Dear Cramer First Touch, will be a prequel to the TV anime of sorts, following Onda in middle school. There, she will be taking on the boys of her school’s soccer team.
Seiki Takuno will be directing both the TV anime and the movie, as will the rest of the staff, which also includes scriptwriter Natsuko Takahashi and character designer Eriko Ito. LIDEN FILMS will be animating both anime as well. As for the cast, it includes:
- Miyuri Shimabukuro as Nozomi Onda
- Shion Wakayama as Sawa Echizen
- Kouki Uchiyama as Tetsuji Yamada
- Ryota Ohsaka as Kaoru Takei
- Ryoko Shiraishi as Junpei Onda
- Koji Yusa as Kouzou Sameji
- Shimba Tsuchiya as Yasuaki Tani
Here’s how Kodansha describes the manga’s story in English:
With no soccer accomplishments to speak of during the entirety of Sumire Suo’s junior high school years, the young wing gets an odd offer. Suo’s main rival, Midori Soshizaki, invites her to join up on the same team in high school, with a promise that she’ll never let Suo “play alone.” It’s an earnest offer, but the question is whether Suo will take her up on it. Thus the curtain opens on a story that collects an enormous cast of individual soccer-playing personalities!
Both projects are scheduled for release in April 2021.
