When Sony streamed their PlayStation 5 Showcase livestream program, they didn’t just announce the PS5 release date and prices, but also showcased some games as well. And one of the newest games that they announced for the PS5 is Final Fantasy XVI!!! Square Enix will also be releasing the game for the PC, and they revealed the new “Awakening” trailer, which captures the footage from PC which “emulates” the PS5 experience.

Naoki Yoshida (Final Fantasy XIV) is producing this new game, while Hiroshi Takai (Final Fantasy XIV) is directing the game. Takai released a statement regarding this new game:

From the establishment of an all new development environment, to learning the ins-and-outs of the PlayStation 5, the team and I have taken on countless challenges during our journey to bring you the sixteenth chapter in the storied Final Fantasy franchise. And though we’re pouring our hearts and souls into this project each and every day, it may still be some time before we can get it into your hands. However, I promise it will be worth the wait!

For now, they haven’t revealed much about this new game yet. However, they did promise to make their next big announcement in 2021. For now, we would just have to wait for more information.
