After all of its delays, Violet Evergarden The Movie is one of the most anticipated anime movies that came out this year. And now that it finally continues screening in Japan, Kyoto Animation is whetting fans’ appetites in a big way. This is because they have now released the movie’s very first 10 minutes for free via YouTube:
The film suffered two delays, the first one due to the horrific arson attack at KyoAni’s Studio 1 building, the other being the COVID-19 pandemic. But now, after those two big delays, it will finally premiered in Japanese movie theatres last September 18, 2020. The movie itself was supposed to premiere last April 24. They originally scheduled the film for January 10, 2020. However, due to the horrific arson attack, the studio decided to delay the film’s release.
Meanwhile, as we wait, we can watch Violet Evergarden and its spin-off movie, Violet Evergarden I: Eternity and the Auto Memory Doll. Here’s how Funimation describes its story:
Violet Evergarden comes to a private women’s academy to tutor Isabella in the ways of being a lady. Heir to the York family, Isabella feels trapped in this new and uncomfortable world. She still grieves for the only person to ever bring her happiness – now lost to her. Violet’s lessons do give her a brief respite from the melancholy but with the absence of joy, how long does it take to truly heal?
As for the TV anime, as well as the Auto Memories Doll movie spin-off, Netflix is now streaming them around the world.
