Anderson stated that he approached Capcom 10 years ago about adapting the Monster Hunter game into a live-action movie. He says that he’s making the movie not just a filmmaker, but also as a long-time player and as a fan. He also confirmed that a Palico will indeed be a part of the movie. Its name is Meowscular Chef, and it will serve as The Admiral’s sidekick.
In the movie, Tony Jaa will play a character known as “The Hunter”, alongside Ron Perlman, who will play the leader of “The Hunter’s” crew. Meanwhile, Jovovich will play a character named Artemis, while T.I. Harris will play the group’s sniper, Link. Constantin Film is producing the movie, which has a 60 million USD budget. Meanwhile, Screen Gems has revealed the movie’s story:
Behind our world, there is another: a world of dangerous and powerful monsters that rule their domain with deadly ferocity. When Lt. Artemis (Milla Jovovich) and her loyal soldiers are transported from our world to the new world, the unflappable lieutenant receives the shock of her life. In her desperate battle for survival against enormous enemies with incredible powers and unstoppable, revolting attacks, Artemis will team up with a mysterious man who has found a way to fight back.
