During the Netflix Anime Festival 2020, Netflix announced several new anime, including the new Way of the Househusband anime. During the event, they also announced that Legendary Entertainment’s Giant Robots vs. Kaijuu series, Pacific Rim, is getting itself a new Netflix anime as well. Its title will be Pacific Rim: The Black, and Netflix has released two new teaser stills:
Polygon Pictures, which is behind the Godzilla Earth anime trilogy, as well as BLAME! and Knights of Sidonia, will be preoducing the animation for this new project. But while the studio is Japanese, Legendary Entertainment showrunners Craig Kyle and Greg Johnson will be acting as the anime’s producers.
This new anime will follow two siblings, a brother and a sister, who find a Jaeger as they search a hostile landscape to find their missing parents. Here is how Netflix describes its story:
There was a time when Kaiju rose from the Pacific Rim only to encounter gigantic robots, Jaegers, built to fight them back. That time has passed. Now, Australia has been overrun by Kaiju, forcing the evacuation of an entire continent. Left behind, teenage siblings Taylor and Hayley embark on a desperate search for their missing parents, teaching themselves to pilot a battered, long-abandoned Jaeger to help in their quest and give them even the slightest hope of surviving.
