After a ton of delays which ranged from Hideaki Anno’s depression to COVID-19, Evangelion: 3.0+1.0: Thrice Upon A Time is finally back on track. And now, Studio Khara’s own Twitter page has announced that they have now finished dialogue recording for the movie. In the tweet, they also confirmed that this is for all the dialogue recording, including the retakes. They even posted a photo of Anno and Shinji’s seiyuu, Megumi Ogata, holding the script in a recording studio.
Previously, director and creator Hideaki Anno stated that the anime will be coming later than expected. The movie was supposed to open in Japan on June 27, 2020 after eight years of waiting. Unfortunately, COVID-19 delayed the anime a bit further, and we now it will premiere in Japan in January 23, 2021.
Studio Khara will once again be animating the movie, with creator Hideaki Anno (Shin Godzilla) also returning to direct it as well. Hideaki Anno’s Studio Khara announced the film back in 2012. Unfortunately, Anno’s personal issues, as well as other issues, kept pushing the film back.
