Despite a second TV anime season coming up, it looks like Akane Shimizu’s Cells at Work! manga will be ending soon. The February 2021 issue of Kodansha’s Monthly Shonen Sirius magazine has now hit the shelves, and it revealed that Cells At Work! will end in their next issue. That issue will ship out in January 2021.
The manga magazine’s announcement also stated that the final virus will center around the COVID-19 disease. Kinda fitting as the disease has affected everyone around the world.
Previously, Kodansha also announced that its popular spin-off manga, Cells At Work! Code Black, will also be ending soon. Its final volume, Vol. 8, will hit the shelves on February 22, 2021.
As for the anime’s upcoming second season, Null & Peta’s Hirofumi Ogura will be the new director, with David Production returning to animate the series. Takahiko Yoshida is returning as the character designer as well! The second season for Cells At Work! premieres on January 9 at 23:30, or 11:30 pm on January 9. And exactlyright after that premiere episode airs, Cells at Work! Code Black will then premiere on January 10 at midnight, 12:00 am.
