The final Rebuild of Evangelion movie, Evangelion: 3.0+1.0: Thrice Upon A Time, may have been delayed a lot, but it looks like they will finish it soon. Studio Khara’s official Twitter Page announced that they have now finished shooting and editing for the film. They did so last Thursday, 8:10 a.m. Japan Time. Now somebody get Shinji a round of applause!
The movie itself has finished recording dialogue last November. Previously, director and creator Hideaki Anno stated that the anime will be coming later than expected. The movie was supposed to open in Japan on June 27, 2020 after eight years of waiting. Unfortunately, COVID-19 delayed the anime a bit further, and we now it will premiere in Japan in January 23, 2021.
Studio Khara will once again be animating the movie, with creator Hideaki Anno (Shin Godzilla) also returning to direct it as well. Hideaki Anno’s Studio Khara announced the film back in 2012. Unfortunately, Anno’s personal issues, as well as other issues, kept pushing the film back.
