When it comes to classic Hayao Miyazaki or Ghibli movies, Kiki’s Delivery Service is one of the most recognizable. The movie adapted Eiko Kadono’s fantasy novel series of the same name. And now, it’s getting a brand new stage musical this year! It will run from March to April, and will star Neo Inoue as Kiki and Yuuto Nasu as Tombo. In fact, they released an image of the two in costume as their respective characters.

The play’s first run will happen at the New National Theater Middle Theater in Shibuya, Tokyo from March 25-28, 2021. It will then head to the Aichi Prefectural Arts Theater Main Hall in Nagoya from April 10-11, before finally ending its run in Osaka’s Mielparque Osaka Hall from April 15-18.

This will be the latest stage adaptation for the book series, the first happening in 2017. And of course, there’s that Ghibli anime movie directed by Oscar-winning director Hayao Miyazaki. The novels follow the coming-of-age story of a young witch named Kiki who sets up a delivery service in a big city.
