Hatsune Miku is now already an anime character, having appeared in several anime as a guest character. And now, it looks like the Virtual Idol is finally getting her very own anime! Crypton Future Media has confirmed with  entertainment website, Deadline, that several new projects are in the works for the Vocaloid icon. This includes a new animated series, though they did not reveal any further details yet.

But that’s not all! Crypton Future Media also confirmed that they are working on “an original series of Webtoons and comics” with Graphic India and Carlin West Agency. These projects will all be part of what they are calling the “Mikuverse”. They plan to combine live-action, animation and music for the project in general. The company is also planning to develop “a modern, entertaining story with an exciting new look for Hatsune Miku.”

Graphic India’s Sharad Devarajan and Carlin West CEO Carlin West are creating the new series, with both serving as executive producers with Crypton Future Media founder and CEO Hiroyuki Itou. Crypton Future Media itself promises that the animated series will be “a unique way to create an original animated series that stays true to the essence of Miku, who is a perfect vessel for fan creativity and unlimited opportunities for artistic expression. It will be a major moment for Miku and her fans around the world.”
