During the “Air Macross F Live 2021 ~Mada Mada Futari wa Kore kara! Watashi-tachi no Uta o Kike!!~” live streaming event last weekend, the staff announced that the popular mecha/idol/sci-fi series is getting a new short movie. This short film will premiere later this year alongside the Macross Delta: Zettai LIVE!!!!!! film.

Character designer Risa Ebata drew the new key visual above. It has the tagline “Can you hear these voices?”, as well as confirms its 2021 premiere date.

Shoji Kawamori and Studio Nue will be in-charge of the short film’s original story, with Satelight producing the animation. Kawamori himself is also writing and directing the project. May’n (Sheryl Nome) and Megumi Nakajima (Ranka Lee) will be reprising their roles as the singing voices for the two main heroines, with Nakajima also voicing Ranka’s talking voice.

Unfortunately, they did not reveal any further details on the new anime film yet, but do expect them to make more announcements in the days to come.
