The “Touken Ranbu: Hanamaru Special Event: Hanamaru Haru Ichiban!” recently happened in Japan, and they had a pretty big announcement. There, they revealed that DMM and Nitroplus’s popular anthropomorphic swordboy game, Touken Ranbu, is getting not just one, but three new anime movies! They will call the new trilogy as Toku Touken Ranbu: Hanamaru ~Setsugetsuka~, and it will happen next year.
The new movies will also introduce a new character in Yamanbagiri Chougi. Kengo Takanashi will be voicing the new Touken Danshi.
Unfortunately, they did not reveal any further information about the trilogy, aside from the new character and 2022 release. But do expect the staff of Touken Ranbu: Hanamaru to reveal more details in the days to come.
While ufotable animated the Katsugeki: Touken Ranbu series, which is a more serious take on the franchise, Doga Kobo animated the Hanamaru series. It presents a more light-hearted take on the swordboys, focusing more on their daily lives. The series has two TV anime seasons, as well as a movie.
