Some sad news for all of  you Ghibli fans out there. Legendary seiyuu Syuichiro Moriyama, voice of Porco Rosso himself, has now passed away. His own Twitter page made the announcement, and it stated that he passed away due to pneumonia complications. He was 86.

Moriyama had a legendary career, spanning a whopping 63 years. Of course, his most notable role would be as Porco Rosso in Hayao Miyazaki’s Studio Ghibli classic about a legendary pig ace pilot, Porco Rosso. He also had several notable roles in both TV anime and anime movies. These include Digimon Tamers, Tiger Mask, Golgo 13, and Astro Boy.

A funeral service will be planned for the late seiyuu. Unfortunately, they are only opening it for close family and friends.

We are extending our deepest condolences for the bereaved family. May he rest in peace.
