During Nihon Falcom’s 40th-anniversary stream, the video game company behind the Legend of Heroes franchise announced that The Legend of Heroes: Trails of Cold Steel is getting a TV anime adaptation. The staff announced that the new anime will air in 2022.
The video game company also revealed that they are teaming up with other companies for the TV anime adaptation. They are SYOU, anime production company NADA Holding, Funimation, and anime distribution company UserJoy Technology. They will announce more details on the anime’s release in the days to come.
The Legend of Heroes: Trails of Cold Steel has four different parts. The first game had its release for the PlayStation 3 and Vita in September 2013. The latest, Legend of Heroes: Trails of Cold Steel IV, released in Japan for the PlayStation 4 back in 2018. An English release will come later this year for both the Nintendo Switch and PC via STEAM.
The games are the latest addition for the main line Trails franchise, which includes Trails in the Sky and Trails of Zero in Azure. The franchise is set in the contenent of Zimuria, across several countries. The Cold Steel series is set in the Erebonian Empire, one of Zimuria’s two super powers. The 4-part video game series follows Rean Schwarzer and his classmates, who are chosen for the experimental “Class VII” made up with a mix of nobles and commoners.
