After directing Shin Evangelion, Shin Godzilla, and Shin Ultraman, Hideaki Anno will now direct Shin Kamen Rider
Hideaki Anno seems to really like the word “Shin”. And now, during the “Kamen Rider 50th Anniversary Project Unveiling” event, the legendary anime and live-action director has announced his latest project, which he will tackle after Shin Ultraman. That is right folks, this new project is Shin Kamen Rider.
Anno admitted that he was a huge Kamen Rider fan as a kid. He says that he launched the project with the desire to give back to the show that inspired him five decades ago in the form of a movie. The director also admitted that they started planning the project with memos around six years ago. Unfortunately, COVID-19 put a damper on their plans, and it pushed back their planned opening date two years after their originally planned one.
And that is not all. During the event, they presented a memorial video featuring Kamen Rider. Hideaki Anno himself edited that video:
Expect the staff to reveal more details about Shin Kamen Rider in the days to come.
