Kadokawa’s official anime YouTube channel has revealed a new PV, and it announces that Miki Yoshikawa’s A Couple of Cuckoos manga is getting a TV anime adaptation. They also launched an official website for the upcoming anime as well. It announced that the series will premiere sometime in 2022.
Teasing Master Takagi’s Hiroaki Akagi will be serving as chief director, while Great Pretender episode director Yoshiyuki Shirahata is directing the project. Meanwhile, Shin-Ei Animation and Synergy SP are co-producing the animation. As for the cast, Kaito Ishikawa will voice Nagi Umino, while Akari Kito voices Erika Amano. Here is the anime’s key visual:
Yoshikawa, who is also behind the Yamada-kun and the Seven Witches manga, writes and illustrates the manga. Kodansha Comics releases the manga in English, and here is how they describe its story:
16-year-old super-studier Nagi Umino, second-year student at the Megurogawa Academy high school, was switched at birth. On his way to a dinner to meet his birth parents, he accidentally meets the brash, outspoken, Erika Amano, who is determined to make Nagi her fake boyfriend as she never wants to actually marry. But once Nagi makes it to dinner, he finds his parents have decided to resolve the hospital switch by conveniently having him marry the daughter his birth parents raised…who turns out to be none other than Erika herself!
