The Way of The House Husband has drawn mixed reactions since it debuted via Netflix last week. While some loved it and found it as funny as the manga, many did not like its animation style, which was the same one they used with series like Ninja Slayer and Yami Shibai. However, it looks like despite the complaints it drew about its animation abroad, many did not seem to mind it in Japan. In fact, it’s Netflix’s #1 show in Japan right now!
The series beat out K-Drama Vincenzo, as well as Tokyo Revengers, Jujutsu Kaisen, and another K-Drama, Crash Landing On You.
And it really does look like the anime is doing well. So well that a Part 2 is now coming soon. In the anime, Kenjirou Tsuda voices Tatsu, while Shizuka Itou voices his wife, Miku.
Kousuke Oono’s The Way of the Househusband follows the daily life of Tatsu, who gave up his life of crime as a Yakuza enforcer to live with Miku. The manga follows him in his day to day activities, from fighting dirt and grime around their apartment, to the daily battles in getting those sale items at the grocery. The manga also inspired a live-action TV series starring Hiroshi Tamaki as the one and only Tatsu.
