The manga and anime industry is now in mourning, as one of the biggest names in the industry has now passed away. Publisher Hakusensha announced that the man behind Berserk, Kentarou Miura, has passed away last May 6. The reason of his passing is acute aortic dissection. He was 54.

Miura’s family has already held a private funeral service for the late manga legend. He will forever be missed.

Miura made his debut as a mangaka in 1985 with “Futatabi…”. However, his breakout hit would of course be Berserk. He first launched it as a One-shot in 1988, before getting a serialization on 1989. Unfortunately, Miura passed away before he could finish the Berserk manga, so its future is now in question.

We offer our deepest condolences to Miura-sensei and his family and friends. May he rest in peace.
