Well, it looks like we are really getting a new Gundam SEED anime after all! During the opening ceremony of the life-size Freedom Gundam statue in Shanghai, they announced more details on next year’s Gundam SEED 20th Anniversary initiative. Part of this initiative is a sequel movie to the original TV anime.
Gundam SEED director Mitsuo Fukuda is returning, and they will be announcing further details in the days to come.
The project also includes a new Mobile Suit Variation (MSV) manga titled “Mobile Suit Gundam SEED ECLIPSE “. Set in CE 72, the manga will follow a mobile suit pilot named Tatsumi Houri. He will be piloting the brand new Eclipse Gundam, which can transform itself into a Mobile Armour.
SOW will be writing its story, while Atsushi Soga is providing the artwork. Meanwhile, Kogado Studio is designing the characters, while Astray designer Junichi Akutsu is designing the mecha. It will launch on July 26, 2021.
And as expected, expect some new GunPla models coming with this new manga series. This will include a brand new 1/100 scale Master Grade kit for the Eclipse Gundam. Bandai will release the new kit in August of this year as well.
The initiative also plans a new Mobile Suit Gundam Seed video game. Unfortunately, they did not reveal any further details about that as well. They also revealed that they have other projects for Gundam SEED’s 20th anniversary, which they will be announcing soon.
