Warner Bros Japan has now released the full trailer for the second of the final Rurouni Kenshin movies, Rurouni Kenshin: The Beginning. The trailer features a brand new theme song from renowned rock band, ONE OK ROCK. Unfortunately, they have not yet revealed a title for that very song.
The video also reveals the movie’s June 4, 2021 release date in Japan as well. Meanwhile, the first film, “The Final,” premiered in Japan last April. Netflix has revealed that they will be streaming both “The Final” and “The Beginning” movies here in Asia as well. It will happen sometime in 2021, and will announce the release date soon.
The main cast, which includes Takeru Sato (Kenshin Himura), Emi Takei (Kaoru kamiya), Munetaka Aoki (Sanosuke Sagara), Tao Tsuchiya (Misao Makimachi), Kasumi Arimura (Tomoe Yukishiro), Issey Takahashi (Kogoro Katsura), and Yosuke Eguchi (Hajime Saito) will all be returning. Joining them will be Mackenyu Arata as antagonist Enishi Yukishiro. Meanwhile, Director Keishi Otomo is also returning at the helm of the films as well.
Warner Bros. has confirmed that these will be the final films for the franchise, and it will be covering the final arc from Watsuki’s beloved manga., which is the Jinchuu arc, though it will have a bit of a different story. “The Final” will follow Kenshin’s conflict with the mysterious arms dealer, Enishi. Meanwhile, The Beginning will be a prequel of sorts, and will tell the story of how Kenshin got his iconic scar.
